We are experts in management and consulting for Google Ad Grants accounts. The ideas behind Bolt Digital Strategies were forged and tested in the intense non-profit environment of Washington D.C. We learned how to employ the tools of search marketing, search engine optimization, website metrics, and search advertising to support public health agencies and non-profit entities.

OUR STORY

Bolt Digital Strategies was established in 2011, but our history goes back to the before 2000 when current critical technologies were just emerging. At that time the actual impact of the Internet on everyday lives was pretty small. Some of us were looking for ways to leverage this new medium for reaching greater audiences but events like the Dot-com bubble/crash showed that the world was not ready.

The ideas behind Bolt Digital Strategies were forged and tested in the intense non-profit environment of Washington D.C. We learned how to employ the tools of search marketing, search engine optimization, website metrics, and search advertising to support public health agencies and non-profit entities.

One of the founders was responsible to the National Heart and Lung Institute for analyzing emerging technologies, implementing search strategies, implementing pilot programs in social media and search advertising, as well as creating award-winning health-communication web widgets and apps.

 

OUR CONTRIBUTION

Notable early successes included working with a major climate change fighting non-profit that depended on search traffic and Google grants for most of its messaging and fund-raising until a website hosting disaster, followed by what seemed like a permanent dent in traffic threatened the existence of the organization. We came in and helped bring in better web talent, then reorganized the web content to support search traffic and Google grants traffic. Within three months we had restored the original traffic levels and visits continued to climb afterwards.

We have worked with a client who was successfully self-managing a Google Advanced Grants account when a change in the program’s policy wiped out their traffic. Google required accounts to have a minimum CTR of 5% and raised individual ad bid-caps, resulting in greater competition for keywords. When we came in they had partially recovered, up to around 58 clicks/day and spending only 1,500 of their monthly 40,000 allotment. The month preceding our start resulted in only 859 clicks from the Ad Grants program and the clickthrough rate was below 5%. Six months later the number of clicks went up to 5,064 with a click through rate a much more comfortable 6.6%. But that’s not the end of the story. As we continued to manage to Ad Grants campaign, the steady progress has continued and in April the site received 39,400 clicks at a very solid 7.24% click through rate. The percentage of the available grant has risen from 3.75% to 68%.

We have also worked with business to business clients as well as consumer websites. We build websites and produce content, and provide state of the art search engine optimization. But our primary goal, the type of work that we find most fulfilling, is helping organizations who do good to get more done.
